Frequently Asked Questions

What does your warranty cover?

Our warranty covers workmanship within 1 year of your project’s completion date. Products are covered by our vendor partners and vary from item to item (ranging from 5 years to a lifetime coverage).

How far ahead should I plan for a renovation?

Most renovations involve cabinets which can take between 4 to 8 weeks to order. Measuring, designing and presenting your project will take time as well. On a general note, giving approximately 3 months time is ideal for any given large project. If your project is on the smaller spectrum, such as tub to shower, 3 weeks can be enough time to order materials in. It’s important to note that although we give rough time frames, all projects are subject to the installer’s availability, so the earlier you plan ahead the better.

How long does a typical renovation take to complete?

Every renovation has a site assessment in order to confirm length of work. However most 3 piece bathrooms take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete. Most 4 piece bathrooms are 3-4 weeks and most kitchens are approximately 5-6 weeks from start to finish. In addition, items such as custom glass enclosures can add to that timeline.

How much should I expect to invest in a renovation?

Kitchens and bathrooms usually contain the highest concentration of permanent fixtures of all the rooms in your home therefore can have a higher percentage in investment. You can expect to invest between 10- 15% of your home’s value on a kitchen, 10% on an ensuite bathroom, and 5% on a main bathroom. Comparably, basements can be 10-15% and living / dining rooms 5%. Have our expert project manager visit for a comprehensive and thorough assessment.

What happens if you discover an unforeseen issue behind the walls?

Part of our initial visit is to make sure that there are no underlying issues that can cause further damages such as severe concerns behind your walls. Therefore,  any concerns that are found when we remove the gypsum board are assessed and quoted so we can ensure the problem is resolved before we move forward. Examples of unforeseen issues include: mechanical in the way, structural compromise, lack of insulation in the exterior walls etc.. An appendix to the original contract with description of work and pricing is created and signed at that time.

If I need a structural engineer do you provide one?

Any time walls are being removed an assessment needs to be done to determine if they are load-bearing. If they are, we will get in contact with an engineer who provides detailed drawings and plans of what needs to take place to keep your home safe and sound. We also open any permits needed to complete the work.

Can I supply my own products?

We recommend you source your material through us as we can assure their quality and will coordinate timing. Any products you supply that we are installing will need to be CSA approved and any damaged / short shipped items will need to be addressed by you directly with the vendor. We will deliver all our products to our renovation sites directly from the supplier or through our shipper / receiver.
